Event Note
Ephraim came to the Bay Colony as an indentured servant in 1632. He completed his indenture in 1642 and was awarded 35 acres in Duxbury. He married Mary Brown(e) in 1647. He lived in Duxbury during most of 1642-1660, then moved west to found Middleboro, where Mary had land from her father. “Sarjunt Tincom” fought in King Philip’s War, during which Middleboro was abandoned and burned. They remained in Plymouth on at least 40 acres, but 3 sons returned to Middleboro. Ephraim was “Surveyor of Highways” from 1655, selectman in 1675, and filled other civic posts. As of 1683 he owned 300 acres in Middleboro and properties at Dartmouth, Plymouth, and Halifax MA. He d 5 Jun 1685. |
